(Washington, D.C.)—A Chinese translation of the Executive Summary of the 2017 Annual Report is now available on the Congressional-Executive Commission on China’s website and can be accessed directly here. 

Senator Marco Rubio and Representative Chris Smith, the chair and cochair respectively of the CECC, issued statements coinciding with the release of the 2017 Annual Report. The chairs’ statements, and the letter they sent to President Trump transmitting the 2017 report, can be found here.     

The Executive Summary provides an overview and analysis of human rights and rule of law developments in China and offers recommendations for Administration and Congressional action.  The report focuses on the following issue areas:

The Congressional-Executive Commission on China was created by Congress in October 2000 to monitor human rights and the development of the rule of law in China, and to submit an annual report to the President and the Congress. Members of the Commission include up to nine Representatives and nine Senators from both parties, along with five senior officials in the Executive Branch, representing the Department of State, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Commerce.
