Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham

Representing the 1st District of New Mexico

Art Competition

The winning entry for our 2017 Congressional Art Competition was by Isabel Jerome, a student at Albuquerque Academy. Isabel’s entry was one of 218 pieces of art submitted by students throughout the 1st Congressional District. As the winner of the competition, Isabel traveled to Washington, D.C. for a ceremony in which her art was displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.

The nationwide high school art competition is held each spring and sponsored by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives. During her three terms, Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham has raised awareness of the competition and expanded the size to be able to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the 1st District.

Joseph Nguyen, of El Dorado High School, won second place in the competition. His piece was displayed in Rep. Lujan Grisham’s Washington, D.C., office. Anup Dean, of Sandia High School, won third place and the piece was displayed in the Congresswoman’s Albuquerque district office.
