This Week in Washington

 The House debated and passed - H.R. 2842- Accelerating Individuals Into Employment Act:

 

 

“This important bill modernizes and promotes effective job-training programs, such as subsidized jobs, career pathways, and apprenticeship programs.”

If we are truly committed to helping those most in need we must do more than simply strengthen past legislation. We must ensure states use the tools allocated to them.  By using TANF Emergency Funds in Illinois, former Governor Pat Quinn implemented the very successful “Put Illinois to Work” program that directly created over 26,000 jobs. Used in the right way we can ensure job creation and boost our local economies.

 

 

 

 

Happy Pride Month! - Even though the administration does not have a keen interest in the protection of rights and provisions for LGBTQ citizens; I want to make it clear where I stand. No matter your sexual orientation or gender identification, you should not have to feel anything but support and love from our community, state, and nation.
