Ocean County — my home — was the epicenter of the storm, and half of all New Jersey Sandy flood claims happened here. An estimated 346,000 homes were damaged or destroyed, resulting in over $30 billion in losses.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman MacArthur today announced that he has been named to the House Financial Services Committee in the 115th session of the U.S. House of Representatives.
 
The House Financial Services Committee has jurisdiction over issues pertaining to the economy, the banking system, housing, insurance, and securities and exchanges. Additionally, the Committee has jurisdiction over monetary policy, international finance, international monetary organizations, and efforts to combat terrorist financing.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom MacArthur today announced that he has been appointed to Speaker Paul Ryan’s Congressional Task Force on Economic Growth in Puerto Rico. Congressman MacArthur is one of two Republican members in the House to join the Task Force.

The bicameral commission is represented by four members of the House, including Representatives MacArthur, Duffy, Velazquez and Pierluisi. Senate members include Senators Hatch, Rubio, Menendez and Nelson.

Washington, DC - Congressman Tom MacArthur was today joined by 106 local Ocean County elected officials in a letter to Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator (FEMA) Craig Fugate, calling on him to extend the deadline for National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policyholders to request a review of their claims filed in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. As Congressman MacArthur traveled throughout Ocean County during the August work period, he encountered many residents expressing concerns with the September 15 deadline to enter the review process.
