The Rules Committee held a meeting on Wednesday, March 22 at 10:00am on H.R. 1628. After meeting for thirteen hours the GOP was unable to report out a rule on their health care plan and instead issued a Martial Law (same-day) Rule. This rule provides same-day consideration authority for ANY rule, through the Legislative day of March 27, 2017. On March 24, the Rules Committee reconvened for an emergency hearing at 7:00am and reported out a closed rule (H. Res. 254). H.Res. 254 was laid on the table on April 25 and the Rules Committee held another emergency hearing on May 3 at 8:30pm and reported another rule for H.R. 1628 consideration. 

The Rules Committee reported a rule for consideration of the H.R. 2192 - To amend the Public Health Service Act to eliminate the non-application of certain State waiver provisions to Members of Congress and congressional staff and H.R. 1628- American Health Care Act of 2017 on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
