CLIMATE CHANGE: As a member of the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus, Leonard Lance is a cosponsor of a congressional resolution calling for innovative solutions to protect the nation's economic and national security from the growing challenges of climate change.
OPPOSES OFF-SHORE DRILLING: Leonard Lance has long-opposed oil and gas drilling and exploration in the Mid-Atlantic region. Lance has consistently been part of the New Jersey congressional delegation’s long-standing and bipartisan opposition to efforts by Republican and Democratic presidents to issue new drilling leases in these waters.
CLEANING UP SUPERFUND SITES: Leonard Lance voted for the fiscal year 2018 omnibus appropriations bill that included an additional $66 million to accelerate the cleanup of New Jersey Superfund sites, including 13 sites in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.
CLEANING UP BROWNFIELDS: As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Leonard Lance helped championed bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the successful Brownfields Program through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that is tasked with remediation and redevelopment of 419 contaminated sites in New Jersey – including contaminated sites in Dover, East Amwell, Phillipsburg, Roxbury and Somerville.
INCREASING LAND & WATER CONSERVATION FUND: Leonard Lance is a cosponsor of legislation to reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) permanently. Lance also voted for the fiscal year 2018 omnibus appropriations bill that included $425 million for the LWCF – a $25 million increase over the previous year’s funding.
PROTECTING THE DELAWARE RIVER BASIN: Leonard Lance voted for the fiscal year 2018 omnibus appropriations bill that included $5 million he helped secure to implement the Delaware River Basin Conservation Act.
“NO” TO DRILLING IN ARCTIC REFUGE: Leonard Lance was one of 12 Republicans to sign a letter to congressional leaders objecting to a provision in the tax bill that would allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
PROTECTING EPA FROM BUDGET CUTS: Leonard Lance voted against an amendment that would have cut the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) budget by approximately $1.9 billion. WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today announced that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has completed a cleanup proposal for the final stage of the American Cyanamid Superfund site in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Lance, a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee that created and funded the Superfund program, hailed the finalization of a plan as a win for New Jersey.
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today helped secure passage of the Nuclear Waste Policy Amendments Act, legislation drafted by Lance’s Energy and Commerce Committee to move the Nation’s more than 80,000 metric tons of spent nuclear fuel — including 3,000 metric tons stored on-site in New Jersey — to secure temporary sites in New Mexico and Texas. The legislation would also create a permanent national repository at Yucca Mountain in Nevada.
WESTFIELD, N.J. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today announced his congressional offices have successfully closed its 4000th constituent casework request. Constituent cases are opened by Lance’s staff when residents ask the office for assistance and are experiencing difficulties with federal agencies such as the IRS, Social Security Administration, Veterans Affairs, the State Department or any other federal agency. Lance’s staff works as an advocate for the constituent until a successful resolution.

“Rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline harms American consumers, American workers and our largest trading partner and ally Canada while helping our adversary China, which will undoubtedly benefit from the flow of Canadian crude west instead of into the United States. The President’s decision today is irresponsible and Congress must overturn it.”
