WESTFIELD, N.J. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) issued the following statement responding to the May jobs report:
“Today’s economic report is good news for the United States, job seekers and the federal coffers. Wages have increased and unemployment rates are the lowest in decades. All this success could be undermined by the imposition of new tariffs on aluminum and steel imports. I urge the Trump Administration to reconsider its decision in light of today’s excellent employment report. Let’s keep the economy going strong.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) authored a letter to Governor Phil Murphy today requesting the governor endorse Trenton legislation to repeal New Jersey’s $10,000 property tax deduction limit on state income tax filers. Governor Murphy this week issued a ‘call to action’ to New Jersey mayors to encourage residents to make charitable contributions to their towns instead of paying property taxes. Lance hopes the governor will support lifting the cap as well.
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) and Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05) today unveiled their bipartisan legislation to allow taxpayers to deduct their entire 2018 property tax prepayments from their 2017 income tax returns. New Jersey representatives Chris Smith, Rodney Frelinghuysen and Frank LoBiondo are original cosponsors.
