As I learned from my late husband, Paul, you don’t arrive as a member of Congress once you are elected - you’ve earned the right to become one.
Thank you to the The Boston Globe’s Joan Vennochi for illustrating what an honor it has been for our family to serve and shape the life of this district, the Commonwealth, and the American people.

“As Massachusetts residents count our blessings as this 50th anniversary year of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act winds down, we celebrate the protection the act has brought to three of our state’s most outstanding rivers. However, as we look forward to what lies ahead in the new year, we should re-dedicate ourselves to continuing efforts to gain the Nashua River the protection it needs and deserves.”
I couldn’t agree more, Julia! My bill, the Nashua River Wild & Scenic River Act, would designate the river and two of its tributaries, the Squannacook and Nissitissit Rivers, as components of the national Wild & Scenic Rivers System – a designation that will help preserve and protect the historic waterways and make them eligible to receive federal funding for further conservation efforts.
