WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Representatives Barbara Lee (D-CA-13) and Bruce Poliquin (R-ME-02) introduced H.R. 5308, landmark legislation directing the U.S. Treasury to issue quarters, one from each of the 50 states and the U.S. territories, to honor women who have made significant contributions to America. The governor or executive of each state or territory would recommend a design to the Treasury, in consultation with various stakeholders. If enacted, the quarter program would coincide with the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
