In Wilton at the Black Acres Farm right now attending the 64th Annual Forestry Field Day to celebrate all of the hardworking folks who make up Maine’s wood products industry. I’m proud to be fighting for all of our Maine workers by cutting unnecessary regulations on our wood products sector and lowering taxes and costs. Congrats to Russell Black for being named the Maine 2018 Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year.

I’m incredibly pleased to be a part of today’s announcement by USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue of a new $600 million program for rural broadband infrastructure development, known as the ReConnect Program.

When I hosted Secretary Perdue in Farmington earlier this year, our conversations with Maine hospital workers, law enforcement officers and community leaders centered around the importance of broadband access in our rural areas. This new loan and grant program will hopefully help assist our communities in Maine in investing in critical broadband infrastructure. I’ll continue to work with the federal government and our local leaders to get Maine’s communities connected.

“December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy.”

77 years ago, our Nation was attacked. At a time of alarm and great pain, Americans of all walks of life, the Greatest Generation, joined together to answer the call to defend her. Their sacrifice over the next many months saved the world from tyranny. Thank you to our World War II Veterans.
