Alaska Delegation Working to Support Alaskans in Earthquake Recovery Efforts

U.S. Sens. Lisa Murkowski, Dan Sullivan, and Rep. Don Young, all R-Alaska, today issued the following statements after receiving a briefing from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Brock Long on the 7.0 earthquake which struck near Anchorage, Alaska Friday morning, causing extensive damage to infrastructure, such as roads and bridges.

Congressman Young Supports Coast Guard Authorization Legislation

House Passes Five Year FAA Authorization Package

This legislation modernizes airport infrastructure, improves service for customers, streamlines and reforms the FAA certification and regulatory processes, enhances aviation safety and reforms FEMA programs and the TSA. Congressman Young secured many Alaska specific provisions.

House Reauthorizes Young’s Critical Federal Fishing Management Legislation

The U.S. House of Representatives approved H.R. 200 the Strengthening Fishing Communities and Increasing Flexibility in Fisheries Management Act sponsored by Congressman Don Young. This bill will reauthorize the Magnuson-Stevens Act for the first time over a decade. Read more here.

Congressman Young Champions Alaska Provisions in Farm Bill

The U.S. House of Representatives voted on H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act with two previously adopted amendments from Alaska Congressman Don Young. The first amendment will exempt Alaska from the Clinton-era Roadless Rule and the second amendment will enhance Congressman Young’s traditional foods provision that was included in the 2014 Farm Bill.
