About Us
The Contaminated Drywall Caucus is a bipartisan coalition of Members of the U.S. House of Representatives dedicated to working on issues facing existing victims of defective drywall imported from China and to preventing further Americans from becoming victims.
Thousands of homeowners in 43 states and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa have been victims of tainted drywall from China. This drywall has caused and continues to cause serious damage to homes by corroding copper piping and wiring which in turn causes the failure of air conditioning systems. The drywall also causes corrosion to telephone and lighting wiring and other household appliances. In addition, homeowners and their families have suffered serious health problems believed to be linked to this contaminated drywall. In many cases the homes are uninhabitable creating economic hardship and, in some cases, personal bankruptcy.
