Secretary of the Senate Julie E. Adams

Julie E. Adams was elected as the 33rd Secretary of the Senate when the Senate convened on January 6, 2015. She is the seventh woman to hold the office.

Adams began her career in public service in 2003 on the staff of then-Senate Majority Whip Mitch McConnell as deputy communications director. From September 2007 to January 2009, Ms. Adams worked at the White House as a spokesperson for First Lady Laura Bush.

Most recently, Ms. Adams served as director of administration and member relations for Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. A post she held for six years.

Adams, a native of Iowa City, Iowa, received her undergraduate degree in political science from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1999. She also earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Iowa in 2002.
