Defense

We must ensure the security and prosperity of our nation by maintaining and strengthening our current strategic alliances and building new ones that reflect American interests and values. In Congress, I am committed to stopping Iran’s nuclear proliferation and fulfilling our constitutional obligation to “provide for the common defense” of America as well as addressing the continued threats and provocations of the North Korean regime. I believe there is a need for the United States to redouble its efforts in the fight against ISIS, take the leadership role that the world demands of us, and develop a strategy that will not just degrade, but ultimately destroy the ISIS network.

I believe in the importance of having a strong military, and I have worked in Congress with my colleagues to ensure that our troops have the resources they need to ensure readiness so that they are best equipped to defend our nation. I understand that a world without U.S. leadership would be a more chaotic place, a place where we have less influence and a place where our citizens face more dangers and fewer opportunities. I believe in a strong military that has the ability to defend our allies and provide security at home.
