Today, during a hearing with Oversight Dems, I explained to FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Brock Long that Puerto Rico is a colony of the United States. This means that during times of natural disaster, the federal government has an obligation to be especially prepared to aid our fellow citizens in Puerto Rico.

TO ALL RED HOOK RESIDENTS –
We hear you on the cruise ship issue, and share your concern that ships are docking and emitting diesel into the neighborhood.
We’ve been in constant communication with EDC, and since our involvement, have gotten 50% of cruise ships to dock using clean shore power, up from 33% a year ago.
But make no mistake, 100% is the goal – and anything short of that is unacceptable
EDC will be issuing a progress report early next year– and our office pledge...s to publicize this report as soon as it is readily available.
In the interim, please keep us informed about any other issues regarding the ships.
