It is our responsibility in Congress to establish a coherent national energy policy. I believe an “all-of-the-above” energy policy that leads to our nation’s energy independence and away from foreign oil is the only option. Fossil fuel, nuclear, hydropower and other renewables need to be in the mix. With a 30 percent increase in the demand of electricity by 2035, our nation must diversify and increase its energy production. The only way is to allow the free market to pick the energy sources that are the safest and most cost-efficient without undue market-distorting subsidies.

Liquified natural gas drives the discussion around clean energy and diversification
The 2018 American LNG Summit hosted by Congressman Ted Yoho was a gathering of liquified natural gas (LNG) and economic development experts, policy makers, energy experts and international delegations. Puerto Rico is the biggest market opportunity for America's growing natural gas industry, and Jacksonville, which ships almost 90 percent of Puerto Rico's goods and already exports liquefied natural gas to the island, is primed to corner that market. That was the consensus reached by Congressional representatives, industry leaders and even the CEO of Puerto Rico's energy authority at Tuesday's American LNG Summit at the Cecil Center.
Puerto Rico is in the midst of rebuilding its beleaguered power grid, which was neglected for years before Hurricane Maria devastated it last fall.
Jacksonville’s port regularly gets fuel tankers steaming up the St. Johns River, but with the recent boom in natural gas, U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho envisions a future when vessels are leaving Jacksonville loaded with liquefied natural gas for export to overseas markets.
Yoho convened a two-day American LNG Summit this week in Jacksonville, ending Wednesday with tours of the port and liquefied natural gas facilities already in operation here.
“You look at the growth areas around the world. We’re such a small player, but the potential is huge,” Yoho said.

Today’s executive order reverses the harm done by misguided overregulation.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL-03) voted in favor of H.R. 2042, the Ratepayer Protection Act. The Ratepayer Protection Act delays the deadline to comply with carbon dioxide emissions rules proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) until judicial review is finalized. The bill also does not require states to implement a plan if there is an adverse effect on ratepayers or the reliability of a state’s electricity system.

H.R. 2028 invests in America's infrastructure, helps achieve energy independence, and cuts the Administration’s red tape.

Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL-03) offered two amendments to the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act -H.R. 4923. His first amendment would limit the administration’s ability to create and enforce rules that would increase the cost of electricity and decrease the U.S. grid’s reliability. Chairman Simpson (R-Idaho) expressed appreciation and a willingness to work with Congressman Yoho in including similar language in the final bill.
