    We will not move backward to the days when we had towns full of businesses that only served certain categories of people, forcing minorities to go door to door to find a shop owner who would serve them despite their religion, race or sexuality.

    Right now, the rights of the LGBTQ community are under attack. Yesterday, Americans United fought back in the courts, arguing that religious freedom does not grant an Arizona calligraphy shop the right to refuse service to same-sex couples or religious minorities.

    Americans United joined more than 70 other civil rights, religious, and progressive groups in expressing serious concerns about the nomination of William Barr to serve as Attorney General of the United States.

    Here's what we know: and the nation need an Attorney General who will make a dramatic course correction and begin to enforce our federal civil rights laws with vigor and independence. William Barr is unlikely to do so.
