How the Affordable Care Act is working for Individuals, Families, & Small Businesses:

As a senior member of the powerful Committee on Energy and Commerce, I was proud to play a key role in shaping the Affordable Care Act, and it gives me great pride every time I speak to a Coloradoan about how it is already helping their families. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, we have already seen expanded access to quality, affordable health care and an increase in benefits for Americans, all while keeping costs down and holding insurance companies accountable.

How the Marketplace Works:

On October 1st, 2013, Colorado’s state health insurance marketplace – better known as Connect For Health Colorado – opened for enrollment. Individuals and families now have access to the marketplace and to purchase insurance through the web, phone, and in person Health Assistance Sites. Connect for Health Colorado also allows individuals and small businesses to have access to premium tax credits. The vast majority of Coloradans who will be eligible for premium tax credits— about 89 percent—will be in working families. In the Health Insurance Marketplace you may be able to lower the costs of your health insurance coverage by paying lower monthly premiums.

Now that the marketplaces are open for business, many people have questions about what it means for them and how it will work. Before the marketplaces opened for business, I hosted several town hall meetings to provide important information about the Affordable Care Act, the health insurance marketplaces, and other benefits of this comprehensive new law.

These town hall meetings included representatives from Connect for Health Colorado, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Small Business Majority.

If you were unable to attend one of the many town hall meetings, you can watch the videos below:
