Chairman Garrett’s Statement on the 226th Anniversary of the Adoption of Our Constitution

Sep 17, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ), founder and Chairman of the Congressional Constitution Caucus, issued the following statement today in commemoration of the adoption of our nation’s Constitution:

“As Chairman of the Congressional Constitution Caucus, I am proud to celebrate Constitution Day.  For 226 years, our Constitution has stood as a monument to individual liberty and freedom—both here and abroad.  Each year, I am pleased to join the American people in celebrating the adoption of our Constitution.

“I believe President George Washington put it best when he said, ‘The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon.’  It is truly a privilege and honor to protect and defend this extraordinary document in Congress.  I will continue to fight to preserve it as our Founding Fathers intended.”
