Our veterans serve a whole career, volunteer to fight our wars, and spend countless months and years away from their families. We must maintain the promises we gave them when they volunteered. To do otherwise is a breach of contract.

This historic bill includes $86.5 billion in discretionary funding, an increase of $5 billion above the 2018 fiscal year. It was passed by the House and Senate and is awaiting the President’s signature.

WASHINGTON, DC (JULY 12, 2017) -- Congressman Don Bacon (R-NE 2nd District), who is a retired Air Force Brigadier General, was honored last night at a Capitol Hill reception for generals in Congress hosted by the nonpartisan organization Mission: Readiness. 

Congressman Bacon was presented with a plaque in appreciation of his service to the country and Nebraska.

OMAHA, NE – Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) issued the following statement regarding the public-private partnership that will fund a new ambulatory care clinic at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Omaha:

“I want to thank the non-profit Heritage Services and the Veterans Affairs Department for coming together on this first-of-its-kind project in which government funds will be combined with private funds to deliver the care our veterans need and deserve.

Congressman Don Bacon visited local veterans Wednesday.

Bacon says his goal was to give veterans a chance to bring their issues to his attention.

He says the gathering was very informative and he learned a lot.

People expressed concerns about not getting into the VA for mental health reasons and the time it takes to get services they need.

The Congressman wants to reform veterans assistance nationwide, not just locally.
