Issues

Agriculture

Agriculture is Nebraska’s number one industry and it affects the economy of the entire state, and I want to expand my background and understanding of these industries and their needs, so I can be a strong advocate on the House Agriculture Committee. Without the talent of these hard-working people, the entire industry would implode and adversely affect consumers.

Budget

I will support a Balanced Budget Amendment. We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. We need to reduce the size of our bureaucracies in Washington, D.C.

Veterans

Our veterans serve a whole career, volunteer to fight our wars, and spend countless months and years away from their families. We must maintain the promises we gave them when they volunteered. To do otherwise is a breach of contract.

Energy and Environment

The mission of the Climate Solutions Caucus is to educate members on economically-viable options to reduce climate risk and to explore bipartisan policy options that address the impacts, causes, and challenges of our changing climate. I am proud to be part of the Climate Solutions Caucus to further expand my knowledge on the potential impacts of climate change and find bi-partisan solutions.

Seniors

Congressman Bacon does not support altering or reducing Social Security for those who are currently in or near retirement. With the average life expectancy increasing in the United States, The Congressman believes we should consider the possibility of adjusting current long-term policies to ensure the viability of Social Security for future generations.

Healthcare

I remain committed to those who are hurting because of Obamacare.  We have opportunities to fix our broken healthcare while retaining pre-existing conditions coverage, no healthcare caps, and the ability to cover our children through the age of 26.

Armed Services

I believe in peace through strength. Our military combat capability has been reduced by two-thirds since I gave my first oath back in 1985, but we maintain worldwide commitments, which is stretching us to the breaking point. We need to retool our military with the latest technology, reduce the massive headquarters’ staffs, and reform our acquisition processes.
