WASHINGTON, DC –U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) today met with Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Following the meeting, Sen. Roberts announced he will be supporting Kavanaugh’s nomination for U.S. Supreme Court.

“Judge Kavanaugh has a great legal mind and a solid reputation. After meeting with him today, I am confident he will uphold the values of the Constitution to the highest standard.

“I believe anyone who meets with Kavanaugh and reviews his work during the past 12 years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit will see he is not only qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice, but he will be impartial and fair while serving on the court.

“And, we had a little something in common, we have both coached basketball for our two daughters. I appreciated that special time in my life and was pleased to learn of his enjoyment for coaching and his fondness for seeing his girls succeed.”

“I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to meet with Judge Kavanaugh and vote on his merits, instead of obstructing his nomination because they do not like the President.”
