McCaskill Meets with Representatives from Fort Leonard Wood, Whiteman

U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill this week welcomed representatives from the Fort Leonard Wood and Whiteman Air Force Base communities. The Fort Leonard Wood Community, thanks to its efforts to support the military installations, was recently acknowledged with an award from the Association of Defense Communities. It was chosen from dozens of military communities across the country to be recognized as a “Great American Defense Community” for their work partnering with the Army installation to provide educational and employment opportunities, family support, and community building and integration for service members, veterans and their families. McCaskill congratulated the group on their award and thanked them for their service to the military bases in Missouri. She encouraged them to continue their work, as the success of the bases is of great importance both for Missouri and the nation. “It’s great to see people around the state working together for such a great cause,” said McCaskill, a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, “The continued local support of the bases is so important to our state’s role in the national defense.”
