Schedule

When the Senate is in session, Senator Grassley sets aside eight 15-minute meetings every Monday through Thursday to meet with Iowans in Washington, D.C., including advocacy groups, associations, chambers of commerce and local business leaders, students and families. Last Congress, he held meetings with nearly 1,500 groups of Iowans visiting the nation’s capital and discussed a variety of policy issues. Senator Grassley continues to hold the record for the longest period of service in the United States Senate without missing a vote. Below is a partial list of Senator Grassley's work during the upcoming week.

When the Senate is not in session, Senator Grassley is in Iowa holding meetings and working to keep in touch with Iowans. As part of this commitment, Senator Grassley holds an open topic question-and-answer session at least once in every Iowa county, every year. Senator Grassley started his 99 county meetings when he was first elected to represent Iowa in the U.S. Senate. This face-to-face dialogue is a priority for him. On January 12, Senator Grassley kicked off his 38th annual 99 county meetings. In addition to open town meetings, when Senator Grassley is invited by a hospital, factory, small business, service club or school, attendance is decided by the organization as Senator Grassley is their guest. For these visits, the goal is to meet with students, employees and others who wouldn’t normally be able to meet with and ask questions of their senator during work or school hours. Senator Grassley holds his county meetings in a variety of locations and formats so he is able to listen to and take questions from a diverse cross-section of Iowans. Although the setting may differ from county to county, the format for these county meetings remains the same and has remained the same since he first took office. His county meetings are open topic Q&As on any subject that people want to talk about. Iowans set the agenda.

Information on Senator Grassley’s 2018 annual 99 county meetings will be posted here when his meetings are finalized.
