Reducing the National Debt
The national debt creates a climate of confusion and an environment of uncertainty for hardworking Americans, and it is a growing threat to our national security.
For this reason, I do not support raising the debt ceiling. Our federal government spends too much, and we can reign in our spending. I will work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get us back to the budgeting process outlined in the Constitution.
Every dollar we pay in interest is a tax on our future, and our children deserve better.

Washington D.C. – Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL) voted against the fiscally irresponsible Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018. The funding bill will add hundreds of billions to our budget deficit and over a trillion dollars to our overall national debt. Congressman Yoho released the following statement:
The national debt is knocking on $20 trillion and the federal budget keeps growing, despite political gamesmanship aimed at making us think otherwise. So when Congressman Ted Yoho stopped by the office the other day, it was not surprising that the conservative from Gainesville, who represents the northern half of Marion County, wanted to talk numbers.
He’s worried, like many of constituents, no doubt. He grabbed my legal pad and started drawing graphs and writing numbers. What he put down is deserving of our attention.
Washington D.C. – Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL-03) voted in favor for the Debt Management and Fiscal Responsibility Act – H.R. 3442. The bill will require -before the statutory debt limit is reached - the president to submit a debt reduction plan to Congress. Within that plan he must show the composition and drivers of debt and the consequences of increasing debt.

Washington, DC – Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL-03) voted to put America on a solid fiscal foundation by voting in favor of the House Republican budget for fiscal year 2016. The Republican budget cuts spending by $5.5 trillion – higher than any previous House Budget Committee proposal – and balances the budget in less than 10 years without raising taxes. Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL-03) offered two amendments to the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act -H.R. 4923. His first amendment would limit the administration’s ability to create and enforce rules that would increase the cost of electricity and decrease the U.S. grid’s reliability. Chairman Simpson (R-Idaho) expressed appreciation and a willingness to work with Congressman Yoho in including similar language in the final bill.
