Tips for Searching the Clearinghouse
To search the collection of research materials, please use the search box on the navigation bar while on the “Resources for Researchers” page. Simply type in the word or phrase that describes your topic, and the site will search the collection. It will limit the search only to clearinghouse information. You may further narrow the search results using filters.

Call for Papers: 8th Annual FDIC Consumer Research Symposium
Organized by the FDIC’s Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection
Authors are invited to submit research papers that will be held in Arlington, Virginia, on October 12, 2018. The symposium will facilitate discussion of recent research on consumers’ capabilities, knowledge, preferences, and experiences in markets for financial products and services, as well as the effects of public policy interventions and new regulations on consumers, households, communities, and financial institutions. Some of the topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: Access to and use of mainstream financial products and services; Use of alternative (nonbank) financial products and services; Emerging financial products and services; Financial literacy and capability; Consumption, savings, credit, and retirement decisions; Housing and mortgage market issues, including tenure choice, housing finance reform, and factors that influence mortgage originations or loan performance; Impact of recent regulatory changes on consumers or financial product markets and Community development or small business lending. 19th Research and Evaluation Conference on Self-Sufficiency (RECS)
The conference will be held May 30 - June 1, 2018 and is sponsored by the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) in the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Since the first conference in 1998, ACF has convened researchers, State and local administrators, practitioners, policymakers, and Federal officials to discuss cutting-edge research on family self-sufficiency and social welfare programs and policies. The 2018 RECS will provide a valuable opportunity to hear the latest findings from evaluations of human services programs and policies, discuss ways to incorporate findings into the design and implementation of programs, and identify future evaluation needs.
CALL FOR PAPERS – DEADLINE EXTENDED
The Journal of Consumer Affairs (JCA) and the Federal Financial Literacy and Education Commission (FLEC) invite papers for a special issue and a symposium on “Effective Financial Capability Interventions for Economically Vulnerable Individuals and Families.” Papers are sought that rigorously explore the effect of financial education or other financial capability interventions on changes in measurable financial behaviors or other outcomes. Ideally, papers should identify and evaluate programs or approaches for improving the financial capability and financial security of economically vulnerable individuals and families that can be feasibly replicated and implemented in other field settings.
Researchers in all relevant fields are encouraged to submit their work. manuscripts may be submitted online through ScholarOne Manuscripts or connect via the link on the Journal of Consumer Affairs website. Style guidelines and publishing requirements can be viewed online at wileyonlineLibrary.com/journal/JOCA. 2015 PISA Results for Financial Literacy
On May 24, 2017 the Financial and Education Commission held a public meeting. The meeting presented the results from the 2015 Program for International Assessment (PISA) study on the financial capability of 15-year olds in the U.S. and featured experts that discussed how financial capability compares to other countries. The study also included research on how financial education at the high school level impacts credit scores and debt repayment as well as best practices from the states of Wisconsin and Georgia.

Federal Reserve Board’s Survey of Household Economics and Decisionmaking (SHED)
Since 2013, the Federal Reserve Board has conducted the Survey of Household Economics and Decisionmaking (SHED), which evaluates the economic well-being of U.S. households and identifies potential risks to their financial stability. The survey includes modules on a range of topics of current relevance to financial well-being including credit access and behaviors, savings, retirement, economic fragility, and education and student loans.

Treasury Financial Empowerment Innovation Fund (Innovation Fund)
Treasury’s Innovation Fund supports the development, testing and evaluation of new products, services and strategies that make safe and affordable financial services available to more Americans
In late 2014, Treasury awarded more than $6.2 million in multi-year research contracts with nonprofit and for-profit entities, academic institutions and state and local government agencies to implement pilots and evaluations in the areas of expanding access to financial services among underserved populations; retirement savings; classroom based financial capability; and making informed higher education decisions. The projects vary widely in methods and complexity, ranging from evaluations of existing strategies to the development, testing and marketing of totally new products and services.
