LNG Energy Summit

Thank you for your interest in the 2018 American LNG Summit. The summit was hosted by Congressman Ted Yoho on August 7th and 8th in Jacksonville, FL at the FSCJ Cecil Center. On August 7th, we had a day filled with experts on LNG, legislation, and regulation together to discuss the current issues and the future of LNG energy and technology. Congressman Yoho was joined by his colleagues at the event. The representative from Puerto Rico, Jennifer Gonzalez-Colon and Florida's 4th Congressional District's Representative, John Rutherford, joined with presentations and as panelists to discuss the legislative needs of the LNG industry.

Puerto Rico, tariffs dominate Jacksonville's LNG summit

Puerto Rico is the biggest market opportunity for America's growing natural gas industry, and Jacksonville, which ships almost 90 percent of Puerto Rico's goods and already exports liquefied natural gas to the island, is primed to corner that market. That was the consensus reached by Congressional representatives, industry leaders and even the CEO of Puerto Rico's energy authority at Tuesday's American LNG Summit at the Cecil Center.

Puerto Rico is in the midst of rebuilding its beleaguered power grid, which was neglected for years before Hurricane Maria devastated it last fall.

Summit touts Jacksonville as hub for LNG

Jacksonville’s port regularly gets fuel tankers steaming up the St. Johns River, but with the recent boom in natural gas, U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho envisions a future when vessels are leaving Jacksonville loaded with liquefied natural gas for export to overseas markets.

Yoho convened a two-day American LNG Summit this week in Jacksonville, ending Wednesday with tours of the port and liquefied natural gas facilities already in operation here.

“You look at the growth areas around the world. We’re such a small player, but the potential is huge,” Yoho said.
