Rep. Fudge Offers Condolences to Families Affected by the Federal Dr. House Explosion

With the force of a powerful bomb or tornado, the explosion of a home on Federal Drive Wednesday ripped into the lives and well being of dozens of Cleveland families.

Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) offers her sincerest condolences to the residents who have lost their homes and to the affected neighborhood.

According to the Cleveland Fire Department, 38 homes sustained damage, 10 have been deemed uninhabitable until structural repairs are made, and 3 homes were destroyed, including the vacant structure where the explosion occurred.

“I am extremely grateful there was no loss of life or serious injuries. But the loss of homes, cars and pets is heartbreaking. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers,” Congresswoman Fudge stated.

“Until the Cleveland Fire Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and Dominion East Ohio Gas complete their investigation, we won’t know what caused this devastation.  I am encouraged by their efforts to be as thorough as possible and maintain the safety of residents while the investigation continues.”
