WASHINGTON, DC - On the first day of the 115th Congress, Congressman Tim Murphy (PA-18), after being sworn in by the newly re-elected Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, released the following statement:
“The first day of the 115th Congress was especially rewarding for me. It remains an honor and a privilege to represent the people of Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District. I was glad to re-elect Paul Ryan as Speaker of the House and am grateful for his continued focus on advancing mental health reforms, which he discussed in his opening address.
“Now the real work begins. I look forward, under Speaker Ryan’s leadership, to continue working with my colleagues in Congress and President-elect Donald Trump for a new chance to deliver results for the American people. My top priorities are to fix the broken healthcare law, bring down the outrageous cost of insurance coverage and deliver better care, craft better trade deals to keep it Made in America, improve and expand care for veterans, bring back our lagging coal industry and bolster our national security.”
