Congresswoman Jenkins speaking at a Republican Leadership Press Conference
Last Congress, we saw major pieces of legislation drafted behind closed doors and rushed to the floor for a vote, faceless government bureaucrats who issued regulations that were harmful for Kansas families and businesses, and a President who appointed advisors without Congressional consent.
If this is "business as usual" in Washington, then it's time for business to change. Kansans and citizens across the country are calling for a more accountable and transparent federal government. That's why I have co-sponsored several bills and resolutions that ensure the government is more accountable to the people of Kansas. Regular folks should not have to hire a Washington, D.C. lobbyist to find out what changes are made to bills in a timely manner. I will continue to work toward making Congress more open and transparent to the people it serves, and ensure that Congress acts as a check to the Executive branch, as our Founding Fathers envisioned.
