Paulsen to Serve on Ways and Means Health Subcommittee

Washington, D.C.– Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) will now serve as a member of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health. Paulsen will also continue to serve on the Subcommittee on Trade. As a member of the Health Subcommittee, Paulsen looks forward to crafting policy and providing input on issues that affect patients, doctors, hospitals, and providers.

“We need to work together in a bipartisan manner to create a health care system that protects the doctor-patient relationship, reduces costs, encourages quality, and ensures access for individuals, employees, and families,” said Paulsen. “Minnesota is a leader in health care delivery and medical innovation, and I will continue championing life-improving and life-saving medical technology and enacting fundamental reforms to our health care system.”

Paulsen has long supported policies that promote medical innovation and patient access to quality care. His legislation to repeal the burdensome medical device tax passed the U.S. House of Representatives with broad bipartisan support earlier this year. In addition, he’s advocated for greater use of Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts by introducing legislation that allows their use in purchasing over-the-counter drugs and paying for blood cord banking services

Congressman Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
