Paulsen Statement on Passage of Trade Customs Legislation

Washington, D.C.– Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03), a member of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade, released the following statement after the House passed the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act.

“Making much-needed reforms to our custom procedures, strengthening enforcement measures behind our trade agreements, and removing unnecessary barriers to trade are essential to growing our economy. With the completion of two important trade deals on the horizon, today’s legislation could not come at a more critical time. 774,000 Minnesota workers are supported by trade, and establishing fair and strong trade rules means ensuring we are on a level playing field with our global competitors.”

Paulsen is a trade leader in Congress, serving as co-chair of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) Caucus. Video of his floor remarks on the legislation are available here.

Congressman Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
