WASHINGTON –  Funding for critical transportation infrastructure projects secured by Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) passed the U.S. House of Representative today.  Appropriations for the Interstate 94 - Brockton Lange Interchange, the Highway 169-Interstate 494 Interchange and Highway 610 construction were included as part of the Fiscal Year 2010 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill.

“Anyone who lives, works or travels in the Third District understands the great transportation needs we have,” Paulsen said.  “I worked hard to secure this funding in order to reduce congestion, improve economic opportunities and increase safety.  I’m pleased these critical projects were passed by the House, and I hope the Senate will also recognize the importance of keeping these projects moving.”

Paulsen has been actively working with members of the Minnesota delegation, including Senator Amy Klobuchar, to secure needed funding for these projects.  Details of the funding secured by Paulsen today are as follows:

  • Interstate 94/Brockton Lane Interchange
         o $700,000 funded
o The Brockton Interchange project includes preliminary design, environmental reviews, right-of-way acquisition and final design to construct an interchange at the location of Interstate 94 and Brockton Lane.
  • Highway 169/Interstate 494 Interchange
  •      o $400,000 funded
o The project involves a segment of US Hwy 169 from 4,600 feet south and 13,600 feet north of the 169/494 interchange; and a segment of I-494 from 7,300 feet west and 3,400 feet east of the 169/494 interchange. The project provides all of the US Hwy 169 to I-494 (system-to-system) moves, as well as providing local access to the principal arterials of US Hwy 169 and I-494.
  • Highway 610 Construction
         o $400,000 funded
o Design and construction of Trunk Highway 610 in Maple Grove from County State Aid Highway 81 to the final terminus of Interstate 94, thus completing the corridor from I-35W to I-94.  The project would include planning, design, update of environmental review, right-of-way acquisition, construction and the realignment of several local roadways and utilities.
