Paulsen: Economic Policies Should Focus on Growth and Increased Paychecks for Workers

Washington, D.C.– In a U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means hearing, Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) questioned witnesses about how the new Congress can affect tax, trade, and regulatory policy to spark more economic growth. At the hearing entitled, “Moving America Forward,” Paulsen questioned Dr. Douglas Holtz-Eakin, President of the American Action Forum and former director of the Congressional Budget Office.

“Nearly three out of four Americans think we’re still in a recession despite the fact it officially ended five and a half years ago,” said Paulsen. “We need to advance solutions to create a healthier economy and give bigger paychecks to American workers: a simpler, fairer tax code; fewer onerous regulations; and trade agreements that put American businesses on equal footing with our foreign competitors. Every action Congress takes should be geared toward putting more money in the wallets of the hardworking men and women we represent.”

Video of Paulsen’s questioning is available here.

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
