Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek to Attend the State of the Union Address as Rep. Paulsen’s Guest

Washington, D.C.Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03) announced today that Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek will join him in attending the President’s State of the Union address tomorrow night in Washington, DC. Stanek has served as the chief law enforcement officer of Minnesota’s largest county since January of 2007.

“The Hennepin County Sheriff’s office, under the leadership of Sheriff Stanek, works tirelessly to keep the residents of Hennepin County safe,” said Rep. Paulsen. “I appreciate the Sheriff’s office for their continued efforts to make Hennepin County a great place to live and work. I am so pleased my friend Sheriff Stanek will be joining me in Washington for this year’s State of the Union address.”

“I appreciate the opportunity to be able to attend the President’s State of the Union address with Congressman Paulsen,” said Sheriff Stanek. “It’s an honor to attend as the guest of someone that’s been a great friend to law enforcement. I look forward to hearing the President’s goals for the coming year and continuing to work with Congressman Paulsen.”

Sheriff Stanek travelled to Washington to attend the Major Cities Chiefs/Major County Sheriffs' Association meeting and also to meet with members of Congress concerning timely public safety issues.

The President will deliver the 2011 State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, January 25 at 9:00PM EST. The address will be broadcast live on national television and streamed live on www.WhiteHouse.gov.
