Congressman Paulsen Statement on Release of TPP Text

Washington, D.C.– Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) released the following statement after the release of the Trans-Pacific Partnership text this morning. The full TPP text is available on the U.S. Trade Representative’s website here.

“Because of the requirements laid out in Trade Promotion Authority legislation passed earlier this year, we have an opportunity to fully review and scrutinize the Trans-Pacific Partnership text released today. Increased trade will mean more jobs and higher wages for Americans, but it’s important to carefully evaluate this agreement to ensure that it meets the objectives that were laid out by Congress. We now have substantial time to read the text, ask questions of the Administration, and debate the merits of the agreement. In addition to these steps, I look forward to engaging with Minnesotans as I review this agreement.”

Congressman Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
