Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell released the following statement on Thursday after Majority Leader Harry Reid’s announcement that the Senate will hold a cloture vote on the Reid-Pelosi Resolution:

“We are disappointed the Democratic leadership will yet again block a vote in the Senate to fund our troops in Iraq. Congress controls the power of the purse, and we are eager to let the Senate speak on this issue. I have repeatedly told my Democratic friends that we are ready for this debate and welcome the opportunity to discuss the most important issue facing the country on the floor of the Senate.”
