Congresswoman Beatty Recognizes National Park Service’s 100th Anniversary

On August 25, 2016, the National Park Service (NPS) will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Established by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916 to protect our nation’s federal lands, NPS maintains more than 50 national parks and serves more than 307 million visitors annually. To mark NPS’ centennial, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

“Our national parks and federal lands are natural treasures that have served as a source of beauty and recreation for families, as well as habitat for wildlife for 100 years.” Beatty said. “NPS parks also support thousands of jobs and inject billions of dollars into our economy.” Beatty continued, “For these reasons, I am proud to celebrate the National Park Service’s centennial, and remain committed to protecting our precious federal lands for all Americans, for our present and future generations.”

On this special day, be sure to join in the conversation online by using: #NPS100. For more information and to find your nearest National Park, please visit NPS’s website. Please note: admission to all NPS sites is free August 25-28.
