High School Congressional Art Competition 2014 - Click Photos to Read Student Art Descriptions
Congressman McClintock presented awards to high school students who earned the top spots in the 2014 Congressional Art Competition. The students, teachers and families were honored at a reception May 14, 2014. The reception was held at BI Design Studio in El Dorado Hills. The theme of the competition was “Proclaim Liberty.”

The winning entry from each congressional district across the United States will be displayed for one year in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol. The winning student from each congressional district is invited, along with one guest, to the unveiling of the exhibit and a reception in Washington, D.C.

The 4th Congressional District honorees are:

FIRST PLACE WINNER
"Liberty In Music" / Artist Meghan Byrd
South Lake Tahoe High School / Art Teacher, Candi Lincoln

SECOND PLACE WINNER
"On Wings of Liberty" / Artist Lexi Haddad
Granite Bay High School / Art Teacher, Myron Stephens

THIRD PLACE WINNER
"Freedom Soars" / Artist Brittany Sanders
Granite Bay High School / Art Teacher, Myron Stephens

In addition to the winning entries, honorable mention was given to four students:
Rachel Aronoff of South Tahoe High for her entry “The Freedom to Dream”
Mary Jo Lonsdale of Granite Bay High for her entry “Coming For to Carry Me Home”
Brianna Rettig of South Tahoe High for her entry “Pioneer Californians”
Colleen Curry of Connections Visual & Performing Arts Academy for her entry “Heroes Among Us”
