Paulsen Statement on Passage of Trade Promotion Authority

Washington, D.C.– Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) released the following statement after Trade Promotion Authority legislation passed the House of Representatives.

“Simply put, today’s action is a win for Minnesota workers, farmers, ranchers, and businesses,” said Paulsen. “Embracing new trade opportunities means more jobs and increased wages for hard-working Americans, and that’s why we’ve seen Republicans and Democrats in Congress work with the President to move this issue forward.

“It’s also about the future of American leadership. The U.S. needs to be writing the rules for our global economy, instead of countries like China. Today’s vote gets us off the sidelines and back into the game.”

Paulsen authored a recent Star Tribune Op-Ed on how embracing trade opportunities will benefit Minnesotans.

Congressman Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
