Paulsen Backs Legislation to Support American Manufacturing Jobs

Washington, D.C.– At a House Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee hearing, Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) spoke in favor of supporting American manufacturers and small businesses by passing a Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB). The previous MTB expired in 2012 and has resulted in an annual tax increase of $748 million on U.S. manufacturers. Paulsen highlighted a Minnesota company, Knitcraft, that is facing multiple tariffs to manufacture and sell their products due to the lack of action by Congress.

“This simple fix will support thousands of jobs and infuse billions of dollars into our economy,” said Paulsen. “It’s rare to find legislation that provides such a ‘bang for the buck’ as the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill, and that’s why Congress needs to pass it. We can’t leave Minnesota manufacturers hanging out to dry any longer.”
