“Today’s ruling is further evidence that President Obama’s unilateral overreach on immigration was not within his authority. The House has a solution that will fully fund the Department of Homeland Security with solutions that will enhance border security, provide stringent oversight, and increase transparency.”

WASHINGTON D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement today after United States District Judge Andrew S. Hanen issued a preliminary injunction blocking President Obama’s unilateral overreach on immigration:

“The will of the American people is for the President to work with Congress on real, permanent solutions rather than acting alone through executive action. Today’s ruling is further evidence that President Obama’s unilateral overreach on immigration was not within his authority. The House has advanced solution a that will fully fund the Department of Homeland Security with solutions that will enhance border security, provide stringent oversight, and increase transparency. The President’s executive action does not advance the goal of fixing our broken immigration system, but House-passed H.R. 240 does. We now ask Senate Democrats to stop jeopardizing our national security, work with us and move forward to fix our broken immigration system.”
