McMorris Rodgers: Holding the President Accountable

Communications • January 15, 2015

“My vote holds the President accountable by defunding his unlawful executive order – an action that blatantly disregarded the will of Congress and the American people.”

WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement on the passage of H.R. 240, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations Act:

“Last week, I took the oath of office to represent the people of Eastern Washington, uphold the Constitution, and listen to the American People. That is why today I voted to strengthen our nation’s security by fully funding the Department of Homeland Security with solutions that will enhance border security, provide stringent oversight, and increase transparency. My vote holds the President accountable by defunding his unlawful executive order – an action that blatantly disregards the will of Congress and the American people – and represented a step backwards on real, long-term immigration solutions. House Republicans remain committed to strengthening and modernizing legal immigration and we encourage the President to join us in working through the appropriate channels to do so. I commend Chairman Hal Rodgers (R-KY), Representatives Robert Aderholt (R-AL), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Matt Salmon (R-AZ), Rep. Aaron Shock (R-IL), and Martha Roby (R-AL) for their leadership and efforts to hold the Administration accountable.”
