I had a great time volunteering at Springbrook Elementary School's Winter Read-in. " I chose to read "Arthur Meets the President," a book I used to enjoy reading to my children when they were younger.
Speak at Event Honoring Congressman Jim McDermott.
Congressman Adam Smith joined Peace Winds America in thanking Congressman Jim McDermott for his 38 years of public service.Specifically, he thanked Congressmen Jim McDermott for his support of US-Japan relations, the Japanese-American community, and the US-Japan strategic alliance.
Peace Winds America is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that strengthens disaster preparedness in the Asia Pacific, working closely with Japan and the U.S., partnering with Seattle, King County, and the private sector (e.g., Boeing, Google, Russell Investments, Hitachi, Nintendo).
Meeting with Representatives from the Pacific Northwest Chapter Recording Academy
The Recording Academy (internationally known for the GRAMMY Awards), which represents performers, songwriters and studio professionals throughout the nation met with Congressman Adam Smith as part of the second annual GRAMMYs in My District Day.
Meeting with Coach Dominque Davis from the 180 Program
The 180 Program is designed to reach youth who are facing their first or second low-level misdemeanor offense. Instead of filing charges against the young offenders in Juvenile Court, the PAO invites them to participate in a half-day Saturday workshop sponsored by community members. At the workshop, youth have the opportunity to hear and learn from others who have made mistakes in their past, but went on to make a 180-degree change in direction in their own lives.

Speak at Detention Center Focused Stakeholders Meeting
Congressman Adam Smith's office worked with AILA’s Seattle Chapter to host a roundtable discussion focused on finding solutions to potentially remove private detention centers from immigration proceedings.
Veterans History Project
My office was honored to host a Veterans History Project (VHP) on August 31, 2016. The VHP's mission is to collect, preserve, and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. Participation in the VHP contributes to the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, one of the world’s most respected research and cultural institutions.
Procurement Workshop
On August 23, 2016, Congressman Smith's office hosted a Procurement Event for small business owners to learn about government contracting opportunities and to learn about various resources that are available to small businesses.

Sounders RAVE Foundation Event
The RAVE Foundation was founded as a public charity in the fall of 2013 with the mission to build urban, accessible, small soccer fields for free play to shape young citizens, strengthen community and encourage physical activity.

Visit HealthPoint's new Tukwila dental clinic and speak at open house
HealthPoint, a soon-to-open dental clinic, means a great deal to the undeserved population in the region. It will make their services whole by combining with medical care at the site.
Urban Impact Seattle Visit
Urban Impact Freedom School is a six week high impact, literacy-based, summer learning program for 60 scholars in grades K-5th.
Through this culturally rich, community empowerment model, Rainier Avenue Church hub partners with families and communities to break the cycle of social, material and spiritual poverty by creating a pathway to a high-quality education, equipping children and youth with a knowledge of and appreciation for their cultural histories, inspiring a deep awareness of God, and increasing their love for literacy and learning.
Geek Squad Academy Visit
Congressman Adam Smith spoke to students from Geek Squad Academy in Bellevue. Geek Squad Academy works to provide under-served communities with access to technological careers.
