Congressional App Challenge

In 2013, Members of the U.S. House of Representatives passed House Resolution 77 recognizing the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in high school education. As a result, the Congressional App Challenge was born. This nationwide event allows high school students from across the country to compete against their peers by creating and exhibiting their software application, or "app," for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.

The goal of the App Challenge is to engage students in STEM education and to reward their creativity as they consider careers in these growing fields.  In teams of 4 or less, students have the opportunity to create one-of-a-kind apps that demonstrate functionality in a real world situation.

Sponsored by the Internet Education Foundation (IEF), the Congressional App Challenge is open to all high school students in the 2nd congressional district. The winner of our district's competition will be displayed on the official website of the U.S. House of Representatives at www.House.gov. 

The 2016 App Challenge submission period opens July 18th and until November 2nd.
