Dear Friend,
With the work the 114th Congress completed, I wanted to take the time to highlight some recent news in Congress and back home in New York.
Dear Friend,
Before we break for Thanksgiving, I wanted to make sure that you heard the wonderful news: a deal has been reached to acquire the last remaining parcel for Bushwick Inlet Park! Park land is critical throughout New York City, and I was pleased to join in the effort to ensure that this park became a reality.
Dear Friend,
As you make your plans to get around New York City over the next couple of days, I wanted to make sure you were aware of the following road closures effective today through Wednesday, November 9 that are related to Election Day events.
New York City Emergency Management says to expect traffic delays and suggests using public transportation if possible.
Dear Friend,
With the fall season fully underway, I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the latest from Congress and what I have been doing very recently in New York.
Dear Friend,
Yesterday, I joined my colleagues in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate in a vote to override President Obama’s veto on the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act.
Dear Friend,
Last night, we were again reminded of the challenges we face living in a free society. We were also reminded of how well prepared all New Yorkers – our citizens and our first responders – are to deal with a crisis. I am relieved and grateful to hear that all of the victims are out of the hospital, and my thoughts are with them as they recover from their injuries.
Dear Friend,
This morning I spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11, and to support the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA), which passed the House by an unanimous vote and is now headed to the President for his consideration. Links to those remarks are below.
