Public Comment for HUD Homelessness Formula

On July 21st, the Department of Housing and Urban Development reopened a public comment period on four possible replacements for the Continuum of Care funding formula that is used to distribute federal homelessness resources and has disadvantaged San Diego. The comment period is open for 60 days and closes on September 23rd, 2016. This is a long awaited opportunity for service providers, non-profits, elected leaders, and members of the public to provide feedback on the replacement options.

During the open comment period, the San Diego Regional Continuum of Care Council, which guides funding and resources for San Diego’s homelessness programs, will be putting forward agreed-upon public comments for the San Diego region. Their comments will serve as a template and will be designed to provide input on the option that is most equitable and gets San Diego more of its fair share of resources.
