On Tuesday, September 30, 2014 the Center for Disease Control (CDC) confirmed through laboratory tests, the first case of Ebola to be diagnosed in the United States is a man who traveled to Dallas, Texas from Liberia.

Our men and women in uniform provide the ultimate sacrifice for our nation which may often go without recognition. That is why I launched the Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC); a program designed to honor distinguished veterans of the 33rd congressional district of Texas and preserve their stories for future generations.

The past month, the House had many chances to address issues that are important to Texas and working families but again chose to pursue partisan politics rather than responsible governing .

As the Metroplex and the United States celebrated the nation’s 238th birthday on July 4th, I had an opportunity to reflect on the founding of our great nation, the legacy that our forefathers left behind, the sacrifices and contributions of our military men and women serving at home and abroad, and the promise of the American Dream.
