WASHINGTON, DC – The new Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) announced the Subcommittee Chairmanship roster this morning, with Congressman Tim Murphy (R-PA) maintaining his post as Oversight & Investigations Chair. 

Murphy, who assumed the gavel of Oversight & Investigations in the 113th Congress, released the following statement:

“I am thrilled to continue serving as Oversight & Investigations Chairman under Chairman Walden’s leadership and I’m delighted for the opportunity to work alongside another strong leader, Virginia’s Rep. Morgan Griffith, who will serve as Vice Chairman.”  

“We have critical work to accomplish this year, and we’re in an even stronger positon to get answers for the American people and restore accountability to federal agencies. Untangling the thousands of regulations at the Environmental Protection Agency, the continued scrub of the Affordable Care Act, and ongoing oversight into the mental health and opioid crisis are at the top of our list. I’m eager to hit the ground running and to continue to deliver outstanding results that has laid the foundation for the Committee’s Record of Success.”

Said Chairman Walden: “Under Tim’s leadership, the Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee has played a critical role in reigning-in agencies and departments who have been lax with how they do business. In addition to this important duty, the subcommittee identified problems popping up across the country – a broken mental health care system and a drug epidemic crippling our communities. And under his leadership, the subcommittee and the full committee led the way in delivering some of last year’s most meaningful reforms. I know we can expect more of the same from Tim, and I look forward to continuing to investigate the most pressing problems in our country to identify solutions for the American people.”
