Currently, the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has near-dictatorial powers, completely separated from Presidential or Congressional oversight, and their staff has authority to collect and analyze your personal financial data without your knowledge or consent. On February 27th, Congressman Pittenger urged his colleagues to support H.R. 3139, the Consumer Financial Freedom and Washington Accountability Act, which focuses on transparency, accountability, and privacy reforms at CFPB.
